Soul Search: Exhibition by Samuel Halajian

0

The Center for Armenian Arts is pleased to present Soul Search, an exhibition by Samuel Halajian, also known as HALLAJ.

This exhibition invites viewers into an introspective visual journey where figures, symbols, and layered compositions become reflections of inner dialogue and emotional inquiry. Through expressive forms and an instinctive use of color, Samuel Halajian creates works that feel both deeply personal and open to interpretation.

The title Soul Search suggests a process of questioning, reflection, and discovery — an exploration of identity, perception, and the human condition through visual language. Each work carries a sense of movement between inner thought and external form, where fragments of memory, imagination, and emotion come together on the canvas.

The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to engage with contemporary works that balance spontaneity and structure, inviting quiet observation as well as personal interpretation.

We warmly invite you to join us for two days of art, reflection, and conversation.

Opening night: Friday, April 3, 2026 | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Exhibition continues: Saturday, April 4, 2026 | 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Silk Passion Art Exhibition by Nazani

0

Armenian Arts invites you to Silk Passion, a captivating exhibition by artist Nazani, presenting a new exploration in fine art through the medium of silk painting.

Blending delicate craftsmanship with contemporary artistic vision, Nazani’s work transforms silk into a vibrant canvas where color, movement, and texture come alive. The fluid nature of silk allows pigments to flow and merge in unexpected ways, creating luminous compositions that feel both spontaneous and deeply expressive.

Each piece reveals the unique dialogue between material and imagination — where the softness of silk meets bold artistic intention. Through subtle transitions of color and intricate patterns, the works invite viewers into a visual journey that celebrates beauty, sensitivity, and creative freedom.

Silk Passion represents a new chapter in fine art practice, where traditional techniques meet modern artistic expression. The exhibition highlights the remarkable possibilities of silk painting as a medium capable of conveying emotion, elegance, and visual harmony.

We invite you to experience this feast for the senses and immerse yourself in a world of color, light, and texture.

0

Free Screaning presented by film director Jivan Avetisyan. Q&A to follow.

Armenian Arts presents a special screening of TEVANIK (2014), an internationally acclaimed Armenian-Lithuanian co-production directed by Jivan Avetisyan.

Genre: Drama
Runtime: 81 minutes
Language: Armenian
Allowed Age: 12+

About the Film

Tevanik is a poetic and deeply human film about the consequences of war — about interrupted childhood, fractured families, regret, and the rediscovery of human values.

Structured in three chapters, the story unfolds through the perspectives of adolescents coming of age in a landscape torn apart by war:

Aram – The Sonnet
A harmonious family is separated by conflict. In a single day, Aram’s childhood ends.

Astghik – The Elegy
Through Astghik’s perspective, we witness how peace turns into war in an instant — friendship, love, and hope vanish overnight.

Tevanik – The Story
Fourteen-year-old Tevanik becomes part of war activities. One decisive moment changes the course of his life.

International Recognition

Tevanik has received widespread international recognition, including:

  • Best International Feature Film – Hollywood & Beyond Film Festival (USA, 2016)
  • Best Armenian Fiction Film – Golden Apricot International Film Festival (Armenia, 2014)
  • Best Film – Romania International Film Festival (2015)
  • Best Screenplay – Arpa International Film Festival (USA, 2014)

The film has screened in over 30 countries worldwide.

This screening offers an opportunity to reflect on memory, youth, resilience, and the human cost of conflict through Armenian cinema.

Join us for an evening of meaningful storytelling and collective remembrance.

Hoarse Fanfares: Triumph

0

Armenian Arts presents Hoarse Fanfares: Triumph, an exhibition exploring the mystical dimension of the graphic practice of Stratumism by Armen Ronov.

In spiritual tradition, fanfares announce awakening.
Yet when they sound hoarse, awakening has passed through purification — through fire. This exhibition reflects the triumph of a spirit that has undergone initiation.

Artistic Manifesto

Layering. Incisions. Texture.

• Fanfare — the line as proclamation, the gesture as signal.
• Hoarseness — the tactile abrasion of graphic matter.
• Triumph — the achieved compositional equilibrium.

This is the triumph of material left unpolished.

Hoarse Fanfares: Triumph is a victory without varnish.
It is the sound of art that has endured the friction of time.

Here, triumph does not shout. It bears witness — in a raspy register — affirming both fact and communion with time itself.

We invite you to experience this contemplative and textural body of work across two evenings at Armenian Arts.

Exhibition Dates:
Friday, March 13, 2026 | 7:00–10:00 PM
Saturday, March 14,2026 | 3:00–6:00 PM

Mome La La La Land! André Smits ARTISTINTHEWORLD | Watch a Mural Come to Life

0

Armenian Arts is proud to present ARTISTINTHEWORLD by Dutch photographer and painter André Smits, a global, ongoing artistic journey that connects artists and art professionals across continents through photography, murals, and living networks of collaboration.

Since 2008, Smits has built an ever-expanding archive of more than 7,000 photographs portraying artists in their studios around the world. A defining element of the series is the romantic Rückenfigur concept: each subject is photographed from behind, offering viewers an intimate yet contemplative glimpse into creative spaces.

This pop-up exhibition marks his fourth visit to Los Angeles and features more than 100 photographs.

A Living Mural – Watch It Happen

From March 1–5, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, André Smits will be creating a large-scale mural inside Armenian Arts. The mural functions as a living map of artistic connections — a network of names and arrows tracing relationships and introductions between artists.

The public is warmly invited to step in throughout the week to witness the mural’s progress in real time. Visitors may observe the process, engage with the evolving network, or follow daily updates on our Instagram.

For this exhibition, Smits collaborates with Monika Dahlberg, who will respond within the mural through colorful collages inspired by the city.

Smits’ exhibitions function as social sculptures — spaces where connection itself becomes the artwork.

Exhibition Schedule

7:00–10:00 PM — Opening Reception

Saturday, March 7, 2026
3:00–6:00 PM — Exhibition Open

After the artist talk, photographed artists are invited to take their portrait from the wall as a gift — a gesture reflecting the spirit of openness and shared artistic practice.

Join us for a week of process, connection, and celebration of the global artistic community.

“Lullabies” Lecture Performance & Conversation with Hasmik Harutyunyan

0
Parents with children are especially welcome. Lullabies, a bilingual collection of traditional Armenian lullabies, is a gathering of valuable songs from different regions of historical Armenia, drawn from the repertoire of Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, Hasmik Harutyunyan. The author has collected, classified, and annotated about 57 lullaby songs from printed and unprinted sources. The collection includes a list of sources, a dictionary of dialect and foreign words, and an accompanying CD featuring the first performances of numerous lullabies. This project preserves a delicate and deeply emotional part of Armenian musical heritage — songs once sung by mothers and grandmothers, carrying comfort, love, and memory across generations. The event is intended for those interested in the traditional Armenian lullaby genre and for the music-loving public. Families are warmly invited, and parents with kids are especially welcome to experience these gentle melodies together in a cozy, nurturing atmosphere. Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 7:00 PM
