Val Avery (Sebouh Der Abrahamian) was a character actor whose career spanned five decades, beginning in the 1950s.
Born in 1924 in Philadelphia, Avery served in the US Armed Forces during World War II and subsequently studied acting at the Bessie V. Hicks School of Drama, in Philadelphia.
Avery was cast frequently as a gangster or other shadowy figures. He appeared in over 100 films, including The Magnificent Seven and Donnie Brasco, and more than 300 television series, including Columbo.
He died in 2009.
