Tom Bozigian
Folk-Dance Specialist and Instructor, Musician
Bio
Tom Bozigian is a renowned folk-dance specialist, choreographer, and instructor, as well as a musician and folk-band leader.
Born in Los Angeles, Bozigian grew up in Fresno, California, where he developed a lifelong passion for Armenian folk music and dance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Russian studies and a master’s in education from Fresno State University. He is also a graduate of Armenia’s Sayat Nova State Choreographic School (through which he participated in field research of provincial songs and dances) and studied ballet in Los Angeles, where he settled in 1968.
Since 1975, Bozigian has devoted himself to the preservation, instruction, and performance of original Armenian music and dance.
In addition to conducting ever-popular dance courses, Bozigian, an accomplished percussionist, plays and records with his trio of folk musicians, and regularly records with the Armenian State Television Ensemble for Folk Instruments.
