Founder of Colombo Yogurt

Bio

Yogurt was introduced to the American market in 1929, when Rose Colombosian and her husband, Sarkis, launched Colombo and Sons Creamery in Andover, Massachusetts.

In 1940, the Colombosians began to fill their Colombo-brand yogurt in glass containers and sell the product throughout New England. Soon Colombo Yogurt became a household name. Its popularity was further enhanced beginning in the 1950s, when yogurt’s healthful properties became common knowledge.

Rose Colombosian died in 1981, at age 86.
