Bio
David Barsamian (born 1945) is a celebrated author and the award-winning founder and director of Alternative Radio, the Boulder, Colorado based syndicated weekly talk program heard on some 150 radio stations in various countries.
Barsamian is the author of numerous books with Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Eqbal Ahmad, Tariq Ali, Arundhati Roy, and Edward Said. His most recent books include Occupy the Economy: Challenging Capitalism (Interviews with Richard Wolff) and Power Systems: Conversations on Global Democratic Uprisings and the New Challenges to US Empire (Interviews with Noam Chomsky).
Barsamian’s interviews and articles appear regularly in The Progressive, The Nation, and Z Magazine. He is a member of the Campaign for Peace and Democracy, and lectures on US foreign policy, corporate control, the media, and propaganda.
Barsamian is the recipient of the Media Education Award, the ACLU’s Upton Sinclair Award for independent journalism, and the Cultural Freedom Fellowship from the Lannan Foundation. The Institute for Alternative Journalism named him one of its Top Ten Media Heroes.
