Bio
Brad Avakian served as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and a member of the Oregon State Senate from 2007 to 2008, when Governor Ted Kulongoski appointed him as commissioner of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.
Avakian’s tenure in the Oregon Legislature was marked by major achievements benefiting working families and various environmental causes. As chairman of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee, Avakian, a Democrat, was instrumental in promoting the statewide development and growth of renewable energy.
